August, 2012. Monte Rico’s final exams of secondary school this year turned out to be a big deception for students and teachers alike. Of 50 students only 5 passed. Asked about the reasons of such a disastrous result Poor results of secondary students the teachers pointed out the lack of interest and discipline on behave of the young locals. But obviously nobody can claim to have lived up to his responsability. Meanwhile students of the national teacher career are protesting against the plan of the new minister of education, Cinthya de Aguila, to raise teachers training from a cicle of three to one five years time, to better the quality of future teachers.
